Mrs. Jennifer Bergeron
Mrs. Jennifer Bergeron graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education where she participated in the LSU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Bands, and Marching Band.
In her fourth year teaching at Walsh, Mrs. Bergeron is excited to continue the tradition of excellence in the outstanding Walsh band program. Prior to teaching at Walsh, Mrs. Bergeron was a head band director in Louisiana for 8 years where her band received sweepstakes ratings at both district and state levels. While in Louisiana, Mrs. Bergeron was a guest lecturer on multiple occasions at LSU to present her successful and innovative teaching techniques, particularly in the area of beginning band. She was recognized as teacher of the year at her school and has been a guest clinician and adjudicator around the state of Louisiana.
Mrs. Bergeron, her husband Michael, and their sons Jacob and Ethan love being a part of the Walsh community and outstanding Walsh band program!
Assistant Director of Bands
Mr. Travis Barney
Travis Barney is an Assistant Band Director at Walsh and has previously held band director positions around the state in the Amarillo, Seagraves, Happy, Rice Consolidated and Canyon Independent School Districts.
Mr. Barney received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education from West Texas A&M University, where he played saxophone and other woodwinds in the marching, symphonic, and jazz bands and was also the graduate conductor for the wind ensemble. Prior to college, Mr. Barney was raised in the Austin area where he graduated from Leander High School. Mr. Barney enjoys sports (GO SPURS!), spending time with family and volunteering as a saxophonist with the Austin Jazz Band when he is not spending time with the Walsh Band.
Assistant Director of Bands
Mr. Chris Fauries
Chris Fauries is an Assistant Band Director at Walsh and has previously held band director positions in both Texas and Louisana. 2015-2016 is his 1st year with the Walsh Band. Originally from New Orleans, Mr. Fauries moved to the Austin area in 2013. He conducts the Concert Band, assists with the Honors Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Bands and teaches the beginning french horn, percussion, and tuba/euphonium classes. He is excited to join the staff at Walsh Middle School and to be a part of the amazing Walsh community. He looks forward to work with the wonderful Walsh students and collaborate with some truly excellent educators and colleagues.
Mr. Fauries studied music at Louisiana State University where he received his Bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Music Performance. During his time at LSU, he was a four year member of the Wind Ensemble under Frank Wickes, the Tiger Marching Band, and various other chamber ensembles. Mr. Fauries enjoys spending his free time at home with his wife Emily and their dog Ginny.
